Circulating Books
Our collection of circulating books can be borrowed by card holders and enjoyed by all users within the library.
Search the catalog to find a specific title, author, or subject.
Call number codes for each item identify the interest and reading level for the book.
They are described in the following list.
- E are the Easy, picture books for beginning readers and prereaders. These books may have fiction stories, nonfiction facts, or biographies. Find these books in the children's area.
- E HB are hard books aka "board books" for the youngest users. Pages do not tear and stand up to toddler handling. Find these books in carols in the center of the children's area.
- E ICRN are a slightly higher reading level designed for emerging independent readers. IRCN stands for I Can Read Now. Find these books on the shelf nearest the library service desk in the children's area.
- EGN are graphic novels. They differ from other "picture" books in the use of sequential frames and dialogue bubbles for storytelling. These books are interfiled with the other E titles.
- J are Junior level books intended for the upper elementary grade reading levels and above. They are split into several categories based on content.
- JF are the fiction books. These are often the first "chapter books" readers encounter, with large type, and many with illustrations. They are located in the advanced section of the children's area behind the computer wall.
- JGN are the fiction graphic novels.
- JB are biographies. Find the newest items in this category displayed in the advanced section of the children's area. Older titles are interfiled with all other Biographies in the Non-fiction area in the northwest section of the library.
- J ### are nonfiction. Find the newest items in this category displayed in the advanced section of the children's area. Older titles are interfiled with all other nonfiction in the northwest section of the library.
- Y are Youth level books intended for high school reading levels and above. They are split into several categories based on content.
- YF are fiction books. These rarely have illustrations, are set in standard fonts and type sizes, and can be quite lengthily. They are located in the advanced section of the children's area behind the computer wall.
- YGN are fiction graphic novels. They are located in the advanced section of the children's area behind the computer wall.
- YB are biographies. Find the newest items in this category displayed in the advanced section of the children's area. Older titles are interfiled with all other Biographies in the Non-fiction area in the northwest section of the library.
- Y ### are nonfiction. Find the newest items in this category displayed in the advanced section of the children's area. Older titles are interfiled with all other nonfiction in the northwest section of the library.
- B are biography books with a reading level aimed at the general adult population. Titles cover the lives of real people, from famous historical figures to pop culture icons to everyday individuals. Find these books on the southern most shelf of the nonfiction section.
- # (numeric codes) identify nonfiction books with a reading level aimed at the general adult population. Titles cover a vast array of subjects and are grouped by topic. Find them in the northwest section of the library.
- AF are fiction books with a reading level aimed at the general adult population. These titles may be mysteries, thrillers, romance, literature, classics, science fiction, westerns, Christian fiction, and more. Large Print volumes are also intermixed in this area. Items as grouped by author. Find these books in the southwest area of the library.
- AGN are fiction graphic novels. These are interfiled within the AF section.
Conrad Public Library card holders can access additional books through the Inter-Library Loan (ILL) service. Please contact library staff if the book you are searching for is not available in our catalog. We will gladly facilitate an ILL request from another participating library.
Patrons eligible for the BridgesOverdrive and HooplaDigital services through Conrad Public Library can borrow digitally from those collections. Ask a staff member for more information or visit the web pages regarding those services.
